News from ROC
To Everyone,
Thank you for all of your continued support and prayers. We are working hard to secure a Home and get started. Our monthly support has increased and our cash balance is now over 30K. We have requested funding for a house from a couple of Grant sources and we await their response. It is our goal to fully fund a house to avoid having to pay monthly rent or a mortgage payment. Please continue to pray that God will provide us with the means to fund a house. Below is a note from our Treasurer, Donna Hagy, about her work in with the area Drug Court and the Probation Office.
Please follow up with Donna, if you have a position available for someone. Her contact number is listed below.
Again, thank you for your support.
Marco
Dear ROC supporters,
My name is Donna Hagy and I serve on the board of directors of the Recovery Outreach Center in Tazewell County, Virginia.
I am also the drug court probation officer in Tazewell County. The drug court participants are those with a drug felony pending against them. If they successfully complete the drug court program they will have their charges dropped and therefore not be considered a convicted felon. I am very excited about my new position at the probation office and am looking forward to the participants successfully completing this program so they can therefore be successful in the future. They deserve a chance to change, This is where you can help.
One of the requirements within the program is for the participants to secure employment sometime in their recovery. I would like to ask each of you if you are an employer or know of someone who is, would you be willing to give my probationers a job. I believe it will go a long way in their journey of recovery. It will also give them self-esteem and help them earn money for their families. I am networking within the recovery community. The probationers schedules include life skills classes and counseling classes through Cumberland Mountain Community Services as well as reporting in to the probation office on a regular basis. Their job would have to be flexible towards their schedule. So a part-time job would be great.
I have great expectations for the probationers because I see in each of them what great potential each of them have. Many of them do not realize that there are those of us in the community that actually care about them.I also believe that if they are around positive influence it will go a long way. We can actually act as mentors to aid in their recovery. As we band together and pay it forward I believe we are going to see a turn in the right direction in this war we are fighting, together, against the drugs and what the drugs have done to our community. It all starts with one small step in the right direction and the momentum will follow. I know it will!!!
Please e-mail me at d.hagy@yahoo.com or call me at (276)971-3760 if you have a job opportunity to offer. I am really excited to hear from you and see what great things happen from this endeavor.
God Bless You, Donna Hagy
